All the major online books plan to open for business in Arizona on September 9th. I was trying to find the shortest distance from Las Vegas to Arizona where you could drive over to make your bets and drive back to Las Vegas in a roundtrip in little over an hour. The best place I can see is the Kingman Watch or Hoover Dam Lookout. The problem is would you be able to pick up Arizona cell phone service or would your phone latch onto Nevada service being that close. There is no way to know unless you go out there after 9/9. I know people run into problems in NJ near NYC. If you are in Hoboken and walking along the river the location service could still have you in New York State in which case it wouldn't work. They all use GeoGuard software and technically it's suppose to pinpoint your location within 50 feet just like GPS. If it works and you live in Las Vegas you would now have a ton of outs and also be able to bet on boosts and promos. I don't even know if they have cell towers off 93. There are no services to Kingman, AZ so this could all be a moot point.

They have places in LV where you can place a bet you know. Minus that, the time for the trip will depend on which part of LV you are leaving from and where in Kingman you will be stopping. You should just figure it will be a three hour round trip. If you only need AZ located cell service, stop at one of the gas stations which pop up right after you get out of the Lake Mead Recreational area. You can mapquest to Willow Beach and that will be pretty close.

That's a lot of driving to make a bet roundtrip. You have everything at your fingertips now, why drive 6 hours to make a wager?

Just an assumption/guess here... But based on his post. Sounds like AZ might be offering him some different outs than what's offered in NV. Thus taking advantage of line shopping.

Trying to do the math on the +/- EV on getting the better number vs paying for gas, etc.

If you are on the eastern side of town, the trip to the AZ border is really only about 30-40 minutes now with the new bridge. So maybe an hour and 15 minutes round trip in good traffic conditions.

With so many books opening the same day the sign up bonuses will be huge. Believe me there will be thousands of Las Vegas sports bettors heading over to Arizona to take advantage. No one in Las Vegas is offering $1000 First Bonus Bet to open up an online account. DK, FanDuel, William Hill will be offering tremendous bonuses. Colorado had great sign-up bonuses when they introduced legal sports betting.

True and I would agree with that, however you are going to have to make the trip multiple times to get bets in, unless you plan on just taking a shot and see what happens.

I hear they will have up to 20 possibilities, should be a gold rush if that's true. I am sure the usual subjects DK, FD, Bet MGM, Will Hill, Pointsbet will be the early leaders. I think the big difference in AZ is that DFS isn't legal so there isn't a built in advantage for DK or FD as in other states. I read today on average they spend $700 to acquire a customer.

Good Luck with what you do, keep us informed.

What kind of bonuses are we talking about here?

What is needed to open a account in Arizona? I live in Ohio. Can I visit Arizona and open an account and qualify for the bonus?

Hmmm.. That's not what I read. With this passed legislation, DFS became legal along with sports betting. That was my understanding.

You misinterpreted what I wrote. DFS isn't legal already and yes it will be. In other states that didn't have legalized gambling on sports DFS was allowed, in Arizona it hasn't been. So there's no built relationship accounts in play already. Everyone hits Arizona on equal footing outside of advertising spends.

Gotcha. Thx for the explanation.
